Stubbornness is a common phenomenon among children. It is an expression of refusal to carry out the parents' orders and obey them, and the child's insistence on his opinion no matter how much the parents try to dissuade him by persuasion or coercion. There are many reasons and motives that make the child fond of stubbornness, the most important of which are:

First: Neglect: Parents' neglect of their child's affairs leads to him gradually turning into a stubborn and insistent person. This neglect has various reasons, including the abundance of their problems and concerns, and the lack of sufficient time to care for the children individually for families. Having many children and being busy with entertainment gatherings to allocate enough time to care for children.

Second Deprivation: Deprivation in all its forms creates cases of stubbornness, especially deprivation of maternal affection, which is likely to lead in some cases to the creation of aggressive and destructive tendencies. The state of stubbornness intensifies when the child realizes that he is able to achieve his demands through it, and the same is the case in depriving the child of movement and restricting his freedom. This is considered in itself another difficulty in this area.

Third: Parental tyranny: In some cases, the child evades his parents if they are characterized by tyranny, and he may be willing to take risks in order to get rid of this situation. The child is naturally inclined to not submit and does not accept obeying orders and prohibitions, and sees them as a factor that conflicts with his independence, and therefore he adopts a stubborn approach to get rid of them.

Fourth: Bad upbringing: In some situations, the child learns from his parents that difficulties and problems are solved through force. In addition, the child's acquisitive nature puts him in a psychological state that dictates that he follow this or that behavior. The only difference between his behavior and theirs is that they have the ability, strength, and capacity to be tyrannical, while he is incapable of doing so.

Fifth: New birth: The child's stubbornness sometimes begins with the birth of a new child to his family, because the newborn takes up the largest part of the parents' care and attention. By nature, a child is unable to raise the issue of parental arbitrariness and discrimination, which prompts him to express his internal complexes through stubbornness and rebellion. That is, envy and competition are considered factors in children’s stubbornness.
