Technology has taken over our entire lives, and our children cannot imagine an era when the average home was devoid of electronic devices such as computers, mobile phones, and video games.
Although these devices have supported us in continuing to communicate with our friends, they distance us from the path of creating real friendships.
They have become an alternative to direct meetings, so we spend more time messaging our friends through various communication programs instead of spending time with them.
We play video games with our friends instead of sitting with them and getting to know them, and how many children end the conversation by getting engrossed in their games and devices?
To help your child become less dependent on technology, follow these tips:
- Reduce your child's time spent on digital devices such as mobile phones and computers by setting time limits for using devices.
- Create a balance between electronic communication friends and real friends, as electronic correspondence will not replace real conversations due to the educational benefits that result from that for the benefit of children.
- Monitor your child's use of the computer: Whether you like it or not, children often watch everything they can watch on the Internet in your absence.
- Make sure to follow your child's friends whom he met on the Internet, and determine the degree of safety in it.
- Your child must acquire real social skills; because he will be living his life in the real world, do not allow him to use technology as an aid when he wants to communicate with others.
