Who is right between the Shiites or the Sunnis? And what is the evidence?
Answer: The religion of Allah is Islam, and the prophet of this religion is Muhammad the Chosen One, may Allah’s prayers be upon him and his progeny, and his miracle is the Noble Qur’an, and Shi’ism is Islam, and Islam is Shi’ism. The origin of the difference was after the death of the Messenger, Peace be upon him and his progeny, and the origin of the difference was in the leadership. All that the prophets had successor, so does our Prophet Muhammad, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family, have a successor?
Did the Messenger of Allah appoint the caliph after him and stipulate it? And if he did not appoint a caliph, did the Messenger explain the system of government in Islam? And what are the foundations upon which the nation builds in appointing a caliph?
Is the caliphate the people’s pledge of allegiance to a person even if the senior people had failed to pledge allegiance! As happened to the succession of Abu Bakr! Or is it by text and appointment, as Abu Bakr texted Omar?! Or is it by Shura? As happened to Othman, knowing that the Shura Council was not real, but rather it was the closest thing to a theater or a charade!!
People who relied on the Noble Qur’an, the honorable Sunnah of the Prophet, and the evidence of reason and instinct, and they said: The Imamate is by text, the Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, appointed Ali, peace be upon him, with the leadership, and the Imamate is divine.
And the mind makes it imperative for every person who wants to travel to recommend to his dependents someone who manages their affairs, so how about the Messenger of Allah leaving his nation forever, and leaving them in vain without appointing a successor for them, and these people are the Shiites, for their loyalty to Ali, peace be upon him.
