Moscow: Starting to manufacture the first electric motor for passenger planes and heavy drones

Russia's first fully electric motor has begun to be manufactured for use in passenger aircraft and heavy drones.

This was stated by Alexey Rogozin, Head of the Scientific and Technical Council of the engine manufacturer Ecolibri.

He explained that what is meant by the matter is the EM-01 engine, as a model for the first engine of the family of aero engines of a new generation.

Rogozin said: "We plan to use such engines to manufacture electric passenger aircraft, including vertical take-off and landing aircraft, and drones. In addition, we assume that these technologies can be applied in the future in the automobile and ship industries."

According to experts at Ecolibri, the engine is scheduled to obtain an investment certificate under the conditions of the Russian Federal Air Transport Authority and international aviation regulations. Engine, reliability and long service life.

Rogozin added, “During the development of the engine, the principle of duplication and redundancy of all engine components will be applied, and only Russian-made components will be ensured. The Ecolibri engines will range in power from 10 to 200 kW, making it possible to transport oversized cargo and passengers efficiently and safely.”
