To the extent that Allah created intellects, He created tastes, and to the extent that He created tastes, He created desires and needs, and after that the people chose the path to fulfill their desires and needs, and with this choice, man excelled over animals.
There is no escape from accepting that there are different tastes among people. Whoever wants to harmonize with the nature that Allah created must accept people’s different tastes and their different phases in life.
It is naive to imagine that life can evolve and grow under the unification of tastes, and the shackling of the human will by an iron decision that cancels all wills, except for the will of the decision-maker. Whoever wants to organize the process of walking in the streets does not have the right to block all roads and force people to walk in one street and in the direction he wants, because this type of organization kills people’s desires and prevents their movement. while proper organization is the one that allows the passage of all people and on all roads, but according to certain laws.
Whoever determines for people what cars to buy, what color they choose, and which street they walk in may succeed in controlling them and organizing their paths, but he will surely fail in developing their lives.
As for successful organization, it is the one that leaves people free to choose, within the legal framework, where people will feel happy because they will fulfill their multiple desires and different tastes, and they will participate with others in organizing their lives.
And it is this freedom of choice that will give people confidence in the path they have chosen.
A successful government does not impose power on people's tastes, nor its will on the people's will, and its direction on the people's orientations, for people's tastes are not erased, and their will cannot be shackled.
A wise government is one that removes its hand from people's minds, and suffices to regulate the way between different minds, tastes, and desires, and works to achieve harmony among these tastes.
Just as in order for cars not to collide in the streets, the solution is not to block the roads and allow traffic in one street, but rather to put traffic lights at every intersection, and thus we can organize the process of traffic within the intersections. The same applies to minds and tastes.
