Economic education is one of the important issues for young people, because it is the pillar that provides them with independence and lifts the burden from their parents. Work and activity, although it provides them with what they need to live, also pushes them to feel hope and superiority, strengthens their will and gives them the ability to face problems. The following must be taken into account:
First: Information about work:
In the matter of choosing work and preparing to practice it, it is necessary - first - to obtain information, then to identify the extent of desire, and to test the ability to practice it. Therefore, parents can provide information about the work that can be practiced, and to be informed of the skills that society needs and administrative work, and to be in a position that they love and are comfortable with.
Second: Vocational education:
After discovering the desire to practice work, it is necessary to take another step, which is the step of vocational education, even for one day a week or several hours, taking into account the appropriate psychological and physical abilities.
Parents pushing their children to practice professions that please their parents is a grave mistake, as well as jobs that bring more money and fame; because the children may not be suitable for practicing those professions. In general, the desires and abilities of young people become apparent during the years of puberty. Education must be done so that they can obtain an income after puberty that reduces dependence on parents.
Third: Focus on work:
Work is a very important thing and it is not necessary for it to be prominent work such as occupying high positions, especially since Islam does not care about position but about honor and piety. And an honorable life requires honorable work.
Fourth: Education and insistence on work:
It is necessary to develop in young people the practice of their work and self-accountability in performing it and to respect their work, in addition to mastering its performance, and taking care of honesty and truthfulness. The concern should not be to perform these works in any way, and to obtain money, but rather the goal of serving people should be taken into account.
Fifth: Paying attention to the type of work:
Young people can do some work in addition to studying without harming their studies, such as:
- Social work, joining groups, and helping people.
- Participating in weddings, holidays, and funerals.
