The General Company for Ports of Iraq announce the timelines for the completion of the Al-Faw Grand port project
The General Director of the General Company for Iraqi Ports, Dr. Farhan Al-Fartousi, announced, on Monday, the timelines for the completion of the Al-Faw port projects, stressing that Iraq is determined to operate the port ahead of schedule.
The Director said, in a statement, that "the receipt of the first phase of the Al-Faw Grand Port project will take place next year, and it will be an important link linking the Middle East and Europe."
He explained that "the five berths project in the port will end in September 2024, while the completion of the rest of the projects will be in August 2025." He continued, "The five berths have an initial capacity of handling (3) million containers."
He stressed that "the directions of the Minister of Transport, Razzaq Muhibis Al-Saadawi, necessitate operating the port ahead of time, and the first stage of infrastructure will be in terms of the navigational canal and berths, preceded by the stage of preparing the port." The completion of all the port's components will be within the next two years.
