Parents are the best things that happen to us. God bless them all.
During our childhoods, they take care of us, they pay everything for us, they spoil us and are there to guide us.
During our teenage and young adult years, they tell us what’s right and wrong and become our best friends.
However, as we grow, they are also growing and old people are vulnerable to most diseases. Some start to develop mental illnesses such as dementia or even become physically disabled. The care for them gets more and more difficult and that sometimes causes discomfort for the current generation.
Another factor, aside from the physical and mental illnesses, is the difference in generation.
For example, if you’re 16 and your father is 75, he might not allow you to do something that was not normal back in his days, or vice versa, he might insist that you do something that no one does anymore. They become old school and are not up to pace with the current trends.
This change of generation and in addition to the mental/physical state the old person is going through sometimes causes their own children to be tired of it, unfortunately, and therefore leading to taking them to nursery homes.
Unfortunately, many people will have to make the tough decision about whether or not to put their loved one(s) in a nursing home. Let’s look at the advantages and disadvantages of nursing homes for your aged parents.
