We need to be able to measure our progress to see how much we've improved. You can't accomplish a moral goal because you're not sure if you've achieved it or not.
You want to be a better worker, or a better parent, or a better friend, and many of us have these kinds of hopes. Unclear hopes. The problem with this kind of thinking is that it's unspecific. StarQuest is a Houston consulting firm that teaches goal setting, specifically how to make your goals clear and direct. They advise you to think about what you care about, and then think about what you can do to accomplish that.
You might set goals like: I want to finish this weekly report an hour early. I want to do this task 5% less expensive. I would like to have dinner with my family once a week more often.
Here your goals come in a specific and organized direction. These are goals that you can work toward and accomplish successfully. Completing any goal we set our sights on improves our confidence and conviction and strengthens our path toward the future.
