There are psychological and external reasons behind judging and criticizing others, such as feelings of envy, mistrust, or an inferiority view of others or as a result of wrong upbringing that the individual acquired and became accustomed to.
To stop this habit that pollutes the individual’s personality socially and spiritually we offer more than one idea to get rid of it:
You must feel the ugliness of this bad habit, and be sad because you are afflicted with it, and then you must wait before uttering any judgment or criticism and remember that you really want to stop criticizing others.
When you sit with friends and among them are those who dare to criticize people, you must stop meeting with them and sit with those whose conversations you trust are safe from backbiting and criticism.
Deepen your faith in what Allah Almighty has threatened to punish the backbiter by contemplating the Qur’anic verses and the hadiths of the Prophet and his pure family in this regard.
When you are forced to go to a place where backbiters are present, gently ask them to stop such topics, and explain to them the ugliness of this habit, that it is forbidden according to Islamic law, and that you hate that. Otherwise, leave for a few moments if you can so that they can engage in another conversation.
Finally, I pray to Allah Almighty to bless you so that you do not become accustomed to this great crime that frustrates your deeds and makes you one of the most hateful creatures to Allah.
