humanistic (adj.)

In foreign-LANGUAGE teaching, a term which characterizes approaches which emphasize the need for the student to develop self-awareness, sensitivity to the feelings of others, and a sense of human values. Such approaches require students to be actively involved in understanding the processes of LANGUAGE LEARNING, as they work with a foreign language.
