The mechanical and heating effects of the inductive discharge are practically similar to those obtained from the discharge of the Holtz or Wimshurst machine, and the experiments made with the machine may be repeated and added to, using the induction coil instead. The physiological effects are peculiar. They should be obtained by taking hold of the terminals of the secondary, in a small coil. The effect from a large coil is often painful.
