For the second consecutive year and collaboration with Rituals and Processions Department, Al-Zahra (PBUH) Foundation from the Iraqi Province, Diwaniya have produced a dramatic play illustrating the tragedies which occurred on the 10th of Muharram (A.k.a. the Day of Ashura) on the plains of Karbala.
Mr. Hadi Atshan Shimran, head of Al-Zahra Foundation mentioned in an interview that "this year's play required 6 months of preparations and coordination with the Holy Shrines of Karbala along with the local governorate council. The scene of this play demonstrated the oppressions which befell Imam Hussein, his companions and family members on the Day of Ashura."
Shimran added that "1,200 men played the role of Yazid's army and 72 men played the role of those who supported Imam Hussein (PBUH) in addition to the women and children who were present on 10th of Muharram."
It is also worth mentioning that large crowds attended this year's play from Karbala and other Iraqi provinces.
